The Best Zero Waste Body Buffer Loofah

Body buffers, loofahs or luffa, whatever you call them, this is such an easy one to swap and get rid of even more plastic from your home!

As you can see from the picture above we still have our dreaded plastic body buffer from a while back and we have kept it to reuse the netting on our plants if needed, but the more we learn about plastic the less we want it near our bodies!

Did you know that a loofah is an actual plant?!

It's from the cucumber family and once ripened, the 'skin' is removed and the fibrous inside is dried to create what we know as being a body loofah!

The product we have pictured is by LoofCo. They are a very mindful company and say...

"Our mission is to offer an alternative to mass-produced plastic washing-up brushes, pads, scouers and shower puffs... LoofCo farming practices are sustainable and to the highest environmental standards...All elements of LoofCo products are 100% compostable and biodegradable, except the metal core of the brushes which is recyclable. Our cardboard packaging is recyclable."

Our ratings:

Affordability: 5/5

At just £2.85 this is worth every little penny. We have had ours for over a year now and they're still going strong! (unlike the plastic ones that fall apart after five minutes)

Eco friendly: 4.5/5

This is a plant! You can't get much more eco friendly than that. The only downside is that the loofah plant is from Egypt, so some shipping to the UK companies who sell it will be involved, but its so much better than getting plastic shipped around as most plastic body buffers are made in China anyway! LoofCo also say "We take care to ensure that local farmers and production workers have an inclusive workplace, are treated fairly with wages and benefits, such as medical insurance, higher than normal rates. No children are employed."

Overall: 5/5

This is hand on heart the best body loofah I have used. Its so exfoliating without being...ouchy! and it's standing the test of time.

Make the switch! Let us know if you have found any other amazing zero waste brands that we should try and review next.

Peace and Love,

Claire & Ross
